I thought I signed up for Genius Cloud but I can't log in anymore

Check for an existing account

Try resetting your password with any email address you may have used to create an account.

If you can't find an account, this indicates that you have not subscribed to Genius Cloud yet. You can verify that by searching for a Genius Cloud receipt in your App Store subscriptions.

Be careful not to mistake Genius Scan+ for Genius Cloud. These are two separate purchases.

If you do find your account, you will receive an email with a link to reset its password. You can then log into your account within the Genius Scan application and recover all backed up documents.

How to recover documents without Genius Cloud

Genius Scan only stores documents locally by default, so we cannot recover them for you. Fortunately, iOS devices are usually backed up to iCloud so it should be possible to restore everything that was saved on your device before it was replaced, lost, or damaged.

Here's how: Restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes

Make sure to follow the tutorial closely and to initiate the Restore at the very beginning of the iOS setup – from the Apps & Data screen. If you skip this step, your Genius Scan data will not be recovered.

Fallback methods

If you don't have Genius Cloud or an iCloud Backup, you may still be able to recover your scans:

  • if you have set up Auto-Export on your old phone, the documents might have been saved in a cloud storage service – such as Dropbox or Google Drive.
  • If you have manually exported or sent these documents to other people, you might just find them in your mail account's Sent box.

We know it's not super simple – this is why we created Genius Cloud. To avoid losing documents in the future, consider subscribing to the service.
